Did you see that guy over there?..Did you hear that xxxx did this to xxxxx?..No way! I heard xxxx dumped xxxxx!.. These kinds of conversations were normal even outside of schools. After all, rumors and conversations didn’t end when school bells signaled school’s end. It was the weekend and everyone happily obliged to do whatever they pleased. Some decided to take the time to sleep in and get some extra dream hours, the studious group of students actually decided to do their homework (if they hadn’t finished it already), and others decided to go out! Well, some had no choice but to go out since some of the students held jobs over the weekend. One of which was a male student.
His name was Suzushima Aoi and he worked at a restaurant currently. It was an open restaurant so customers could sit outside and eat if they pleased. Luckily, the weather wasn’t so bad to work outside that day, just a bit chilly. The wind was a light one that could caress one’s face gently, slowly turning cheeks an apple red color. The sun was barely out, deciding to hide from those below behind the white tufts of cloud in the sky. It wasn’t so bad compared to recent winter days where snow practically ate your feet and winds were slapping you whenever it could. That was one of those mornings where you’d rather just live on the sun rather than on earth where hell was probably freezing over. Compared to that, today was just peachy.
This boy named Aoi wasn’t one to be a downer on many situations. He was, in fact, optimistic on most occasions. At least, he seemed that way on the surface. He enjoyed the cold, even when hell practically froze over and maybe him, as well. He much preferred it when it snowed, though. He loved the white color of the snow, seeming so pure on the surface as it hid the true colors under that sheet of white. Ah, but those are just little trivial facts about him.
Much like the snow, his hair was also very white as it fell over his face, kind of hiding his eyes from view. It was amazing how he could get around without tripping over anything, yet. He was kind of like a nimble white rabbit moving back and forth between tables, dishes, and customers. His lithe and slender body must have been accustomed to weaving back and forth in the café. Even his movements seemed almost as if they moved automatically. He had a somewhat confused expression as he still seemed to have difficulty remembering the various orders he was given. He seemed a bit flushed, as well, since the skin on his cheeks, which were normally a healthy peach color, were a bit of a red color from the cold.
The outfit he wore was a simple long sleeved shirt and some jeans along with an apron for pens and holding his notebook for orders and such. It was a more casual café for teens to go to but it was moderately popular. Business was a bit slower than usual due to the weather but on regular days, especially in the summer, business was booming in every store on the block. It would get to the point where one would have trouble taking even one step further without pushing or shoving someone out of the way, but supposedly that was normal when you have a café next to stores and other restaurants and cafes.
However, with business being kinda slow, it was a bit boring for Aoi. He wasn’t really a workaholic, but rarely did the customers really want to talk with anyone but their friends with them. The other workers mainly kept to themselves, as well. Well, it wasn’t that big a deal to him anyway. It was just like any other job he took up so it was better to just get through the day. In all the jobs that he took up, it was the same thing every time, anyway. He still kind of hoped that something would pop up to shake up the day.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lan looked around at everything, and picked out all the things that were going on around him. There were people of course, but not as much as there should have been for a place like this. The weather maybe? Well it didn't seem too bad out. Cold weather was lovely. especially when it was rainy. Rain was the best. It was just a soothing should as it came down. How could you not like it? Sure, it may be just a bit inconvenient, but it's not like it was bad enough to dislike. Well, that was his opinion anyway.
There were stores, or to be exact, clothing stores. And lots of them. But then again, that was to be expected in a place like this. It was just a place were all the 'in' stuff were sold, stuff that Lan wasn't very into. Some of these little trends were okay, but most were not to his taste. Not that he looked down at others who did. He just simply liked his style, which was just a pair of black slacks and some random T-shirt with the craziest designs. Today's of course was a yellow shirt with a banana that had 'Bleach' printed on it. It seemed like a weird shirt, but he didn't care. He generally didn't care what others said. Well not, on the outside anyway.
He also saw a restaurant. And at that same moment, he also heard his stomach. Apparently, it was hungry. He looked back from the his now gurgling stomach to the restaurant again. It seemed to be a nice place to get a meal. Looks like it was decided by both him and his food-deprived stomach that it was a sure fire win to eat at such a place. So he decided to wait in the waiting area for a waiter to tell him it was his turn and to sit where.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For me, this is a long post xD

He was just about done filling out the orders of those who were there as he placed a plate onto a white clothed table. He smiled at the customer, “Thank you for waiting patiently. Please enjoy the food.” He said politely to the customer, although the customer continued to eat, basically ignoring him. He didn’t particularly mind. He was quite used to this type of indifferent attitude from the customers anyway. He sighed a bit relieved since it was tiring work that one had to be accustomed to. Carrying various plates at the same time while not dropping any, staying standing or walking for long periods of time, and of course something Aoi had trouble with, remembering the orders. He blinked when he saw a new customer arriving. It was a blond person with violet eyes and seemed quite the optimist. He walked up to the person, knowing the others were way too lazy, preferring to stay near the heater, to attend to customers outside. He smiled welcomingly, “Welcome. Umm..you may sit at any open table if you like.” He said with a small sweat drop. He supposed that this was his first time there since he never seen this person before that he remembered and since this guy didn’t seat himself. “My name is Aoi Suzushima. I’ll be your waiter today. May I recommend this table here?” He said as he showed the blond guy to a cleared table. He set up the table with the necessary silverware and napkin. “Ah I kind of decided on my own, but I hope this table is okay.” He half apologized, hoping that he didn’t mind him being a bit insistent. He was mostly like that since most clients were more apt to doing whatever so long as they got their food. “Well, if this seat is okay, here’s the menu for today.” He continued as he laid a menu on the table. “I recommend the shrimp scampi with spiced hot cocoa and perhaps a dessert?” He awaited his answer, trying to act as professional as possible, though his inexperience was still somewhat shown despite that. He hasn’t had this job for a long time but not an extremely short time either. He very much liked the job though since he got to work with food, since he was big on cooking. {ooc; sorry, it’s short }

Shrimp scampi with spiced hot cocoa? Sounds expensive delicious!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well joy. Didn't Lan feel like the smart kid. It appeared he was supposed to seat himself instead of just sitting there, according to what was going on around him. But it was too late to take what he had figured out to any use in the current situation. A waiter had already came to him and told him he may choose any seat he had wanted. Oh well. At least he was kind enough to do so.
Speaking of, this waiter. Sporting some jean and a long sleeve...with his apron on of course, he was quite cute actually. And saying that for a guy kinda meant something. Lan was indeed a very loud bisexual, but he generally almost never found guys to peak his interest. He seemed 16. Though there was something about him that didn't say he was anywhere near that young. Skinny he was, a good trait for a boy like him. It suited him well. He had white hair, a real spectacle if I say so myself. kinda like snow. Not alot of people had hair like that. Kinda made him stand out from everyone else there. He wanted to know his eye color as well, but it seemed to be covered by his bangs. How could he see like that?
He had sat down at the designated table he had chosen. It wasn't the spot he would have chosen given the chance, but all the same it wasn't a bad spot either. He Listened to the suggestion the waiter had made. He nodded his head. ''Shrimp scampi with spiced hot cocoa? Well that sounds like a treat indeed. I guess now that you've peeked my interest in that I'll just have to order it. But no dessert please. I have to keep myself looking good for the lovely little cuties out there, and that's not going to help one bit.'' He handed back the menu he had set on the table. ''Well I guess I wont be needing this now. By the way, you said your name was Aoi right? Mine is Lan Kamogawua. But please, I'm not one for formalities. So please call me Lan.''

He nodded in hearing that he would order what Aoi had suggested. He was glad someone actually listened the whole way instead of just brushing it off with some curt response. He did enjoy making sweets but it wasn’t such a big deal that he didn’t get to make any for this customer. Besides, he got to make sweets for some of the female customers if he wanted to sneak a dessert onto their plate. It was a small secret that he was often reprimanded for but he always liked the good reactions he got from some of the customers who had no clue of this. It was really bad though since he got caught sneaking some desserts he made for free. It was a really good thing, now that he thought about it, that he kept a good relationship with his boss, otherwise he probably would have been fired by then.
He picked up the menu and nodded, showing he was right in saying his name. He smiled lightly, missing the nice little conversations with his customers that he didn’t have in a long while, “Then, it’s nice to meet you, Lan.” He said happily, “Please wait a bit for your food. I’ll be right back.” He stated as he went back into the café kitchen. What most people didn’t know was that the waiter’s actually cook the foods themselves, although the job usually separates the job of chef and waiter. For a select few of the café, the waiter acts as both the chef and waiter. It was easier for the boss that way, so it seems.
As Aoi stepped into the kitchen, he felt kinda happy being inside the area. No matter how fancy it was compared to a normal home kitchen, it still had that feeling of home that he also kind of missed. He began with cooking the shrimp scampi first, seeing as the spiced hot cocoa took less time. He didn’t want either the food or beverage to be too cold by the time he served it, since it was already cold outside. Once he finished the shrimp scampi and placed it neatly on the plate. Immediately after, he prepared the hot cocoa and placed a bit of cinnamon inside to add a bit of spice. He placed the plate and beverage on a tray and looked over it first to check if everything was as it should be. When he verified that everything seemed okay, he finally brought it out.
“Sorry for the wait, Lan! It’s finished.” He said as he placed the tray on Lan’s table. “Please enjoy your meal.” Afterwards, he walked off to see if any other customers needed to be attended to. Well, everyone seemed fine and dandy. What he most wanted to see though was how Lan would react to food he made, even though Lan probably didn’t know he cooked it. He didn't want to make Lan uncomfortable though, so he tried not to be so obvious in the fact he was kinda staring off in Lan's direction for his reaction.

. . . . .Come here boy, Let me Tell you Something
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lan waited as the food was prepaired for him. Now, that the poor waiter boy he actually wanted to talk to had left and was no where in sight, he had no choice but to talk to himself. It couldn't be helped though, right? He was a waiter after all, and had a job to do. The food had needed to be cooked anyway, and that sure as heck would take a minunite. Even an expert cook wouldn't be able to pull of a good meal in a matter of minunites. No, because he would be a good cook, it wouldn't be rushed and would actually been a meal in which the utmost amount of time was put in to prepare it. Lan should know. He cooked for himself all the time as a kid, and usually hated most others cooking, though he was slowly trying to get over that habit. It just didn't seem like a good habit to have.
He had though about many things duing that time period, but the thing he had most thought about was two things: the fact that he was going to eat someone else's food, and that he had just ordered something he had no idea about. Then again, that's Lan for you. Random as a rock in the shape of a pie on the 3rd floor of an office building. But then again, that's kinda how Lan got to cooking. He had tried random things and ended up hating it, so he had a thought. Why not just cook yourself and add in all the stuff you like instead of what other people like? It seemed like a good thought at the time, but realizing it was hard to discover new things this way, it seemed it was okay to sometimes eat other people's random stuff. But only sometimes.
''Speak of the devil'', Lan had pronunced as the food had come back. While the food was being prepaired, he had not seen the boy come out once. And as he was just thinking about that for a little bit, out the boy had come, with a platter of food. He wondered if it was for him? It seemed like it was as it made it's way to the table Lan resided in. It sure was. It was set right beside him, with a comment about enjoying his meal. ''I sure will.'' He had said to him as he had went off, and the stared at the meal in front of him.
The first noticable thing about all of this was the aroma it gave off. He also noticed the preperation, and the way everything was set up. He stared at it a little bit, glancing to the side to notice for some reason Aoi was looking at him. Not alot, but just enough for him to notice. He wanted to play with the boy, just a bit, just too see what he would do. He slowly took a bite of the food. It moved in his mouth as he chewed and swallowed, doing his best to be a gentleman with his manners. He then snickered a little bit. He looked in the direction of the waiter, and motioned his fingers back ad forth, signaling him to come. ''Oh Aoi!''
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I had forgotten Lan hated other people's food and loved cooking. I smell a plot involving food coming soon! :'D

He was a bit uncomfortable, like he always was, when seeing what kind of reaction customers had toward his food. That’s why it made him a bit anxious when he saw Lan slowly taking a bite of his food. He was watching intently for Lan’s reaction until he blinked, seeing a snicker. He wondered what that meant. He blinked when he was suddenly called over as he noticed Lan’s hand gesture. He felt himself gulp a bit as he was nervous as to if he did something wrong. He nervously walked over, trying to mask his nervousness with a smile as he walked over to Lan’s table.
He took a quick glance of the food, as if it was a last minute inspection as he then flickered his gaze over to Lan. A million questions immediately leapt into his head as well as some self criticism. He was wondering if maybe he overcooked the shrimp or perhaps if he used the wrong type of garnishing, though he was sure he chose the right one. He wondered if maybe the cocoa was too strange with the shrimp, though he thought something semi-salty, like shrimp, went well with something sweet and slightly spicy, like the spiced hot cocoa. Ah, too many things ran in his head that he was probably making himself a little dizzy. He just hoped that it was a good comment rather than a bad one, since when it came to cooking, he was usually confident. That reaction awhile ago though…that snicker…it really made him wonder if what he cooked was good or not to Lan. After all, even if Lan was wearing a strangely designed shirt, he still appeared to be in the more upper class neighborhood than himself. He wasn’t sure what type of cuisine Lan actually liked.
“Is something wrong, Lan? Is the food not to your liking?” He asked, more than a bit concerned, though hiding the majority of his concern. When you’ve been a waiter at various restaurants and cafes before, like Aoi, you tend to make it a habit not to be too obviously nervous in front of the customers. You tend to learn that it could deter the customer’s appetite. That and the boss could scold you quite a bit if it keeps occurring every time. He stood at attention as he looked to Lan’s facial expression to at least get a hint of what Lan thought.

Now Then...About The Food
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lan watched as the boy had come just as he wanted him to. He seemed a bit nervous. But why would he be? It's not like he cooked the food or anything. Maybe he was going to get yelled at by his boss or something for it? Whatever the reason, it seemes he was expecting something bad. Now, Lan was one to take atvantage of this kinda thing usually and tell him something that would make him freak like 'Did you know i'm a critic?' or something halirious like that. But he just couldn't for some reason this time around. He had to tell this kid the straight honest truth.
He stared at the food for a bit and took another bite, just to make sure he was right about what he was going to tell the boy. He then motioned him to come closer. When he did, he whispered so he could hear, ''Hmm....It's quite good. Not all to perfect, but still quite the delicacy. Please, give my compliments to the chef who made this dish. Also, tell him to maybe try using more minced garlic and a bit less lemon next time. It seems a bit less tasteful like that. But then again, that might just be me. Anyway, I'm sure you have stuff to be doing, no need to hear me ramble on about this right?''
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well I knew I was setting myself up for a short post...sorry ^^

He waited in anticipation as he tried to urge back the feeling of shuffling a bit as he managed to force himself to stay still. He was wondering a bit what Lan was thinking about while looking to him. He was wondering if he was trying to find a way to put it down nicely or if it was actually a good thing. He knew himself that he was a bit gullible at times but he was hoping it wasn’t some kind of trick. Aoi actually took his cooking very seriously since it was one of the things he thought he could try to pursue in the future. He wanted to make something that even his parents would be proud of. Something that even his grandmother could be proud of..
He tensed a bit seeing Lan take another bite as he was careful to look at Lan’s expression. He tilted his head a bit in question when he saw Lan motion for him to come closer again. He leaned down closer, obediently. It was kind of funny since it was like he was listening to a secret. He was surprised to hear that Lan thought it was pretty good. He didn’t mind some criticism since such comments just helped to better himself. In fact, he was a bit impressed that Lan knew so much about food and how something should taste like, whether it was Lan’s personal preference or not. He had a light blush at the compliment though. He quite liked being praised, just like a child. It helped him know when he was doing something right.
He smiled happily, “Thank you for your compliments and advice. I’ll take that into account--err--I mean, I’ll be sure to tell that to the chef.” He said with a cheerful smile. He was a bit curious now though, “You seem to know food quite a bit. Are you a food critic?” He asked, seeming very interested. His eyes seemed to sparkle at just talking a bit about cooking or something related to it. It was just how he was and it is something that made him jovial. He shook his head about having stuff to be doing, “Today’s actually a bit slow due to the weather. There aren’t many customers today so if it’s no bother, I’d still like to continue talking with you..if that’s okay.” He stated, hoping that he wasn’t bothering Lan while he ate.

Sure, Come and Take a Seat!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lan smiled at the boy as he responded to his compliment. He has said that he would take it into account, but I wonder why? It's not like he could have cooked this dish or anything. At least he didn't look like the type to make such high class food. Then again, looks were sometimes deceiving. Lan had learned that all to well in the real world, although he was sometimes too native about people to actually believe it. Still, he might have just made a mistake in saying that. Thats what it sounded like at least.
Aoi apparently wanted to be with Lan, guess to talk more about food. Lan was actually quite happy with that. He enjoyed Aoi's company and wanted to be around him a bit longer, at least until he had to go again. He pointed his hand to the seat on the other side of the booth, and motioned him to sit. ''Come then, sit with me. Come on now, if your boss yells at you or something about it I'll just say it was all my fault. Okay then?'' Lan was waiting until he had sat down, taking another bite of the food as he did. He then looked at him with a smile for a bit.
''So, you think I'm a critic? Well, I kinda wish I had the stomach for it. Really, if I had to come and taste every single restraint in Tokyo, i'd make me sick. You see, I'm not one for other people's cooking. I actually hate eating other people's food. I'd explain why, but that would just be useless blabber. Why, did I come across as one?'' Lan was actually quite amused at the fact that he was called a critic. That must have meant Aoi had thought he knew what he was talking about. It was pleasing to know.

He was delighted when Lan motioned for him to sit. It was a sign to him that he wasn’t a bother as of yet. In a way, the gesture kind of calmed him down since he was one to wonder about others before himself. He slowly took the initiative to begin sitting but flinched a bit upon hearing the mention of his boss…He almost forgot about him. He even almost forgot he was on the job. Perhaps he got comfortable way too quickly. He quickly stood up again at the mention of his boss, “I don’t want you to take the blame for something I did. It’s really okay if I stand up. As a waiter, you get used to standing up for long periods of time, trust me.” he said with a believable smile.
He was happy seeing Lan taking another bite of the food. It pleased him greatly when he saw customers enjoying his food and opening up a bit. He wanted to become someone who can make other people more comfortable. He envied Lan a bit for being so optimistic, just an observation he came up with. Lan seemed like a friendly person. At least, Lan didn’t give him a reason to think otherwise, as of yet. Although his thinking sounded naïve, he knew the difference between a dream and reality. He knew that sometimes, people are sometimes different than how they appear. Such a thing, Aoi has learned to live with. He sometimes wished the world could be simpler but he supposed that that may have been too much to ask for.
He blinked upon hearing that Lan wasn’t a food critic, however he still help Lan in high esteem. He chuckled a bit at what Lan said, “I see. I guess I’d get sick too if I had to eat so much food, even some that I probably wouldn’t like.” He agreed. He was especially surprised when he heard Lan say that he doesn’t like eating other people’s foods. It kind of made him a bit happier for what Lan had said earlier since his food was able to get such praise even though Lan was a picky eater, so he deemed. He smiled, “I see. I’m gl-err, I’m sure the chef will be glad to hear you enjoyed the food even though you usually hate other people’s cooking. Ah, just to tell you, I made sure to pick out one of the lesser expensive items on our menu. It’s something off the menu I personally like so I might have been a bit biased to what I liked than what you might like when I was suggesting something.” He said with a light apologetic laugh.

Gotta Love the Casual Talk
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lan was a bit saddened that the boy would not take a seat. Sure, from his point of view it seemed like he shouldn't be talking a seat after all. Mostly cause he jumped back at the sould of his boss coming out and scolding him. He wanted to tell the boy that it didn't matter to him, and that he would be fine taking the blame. But the boy was so perstint about the whole thing, it didn't seem like Lan would be able to win this little round. So he just let the boy stand as he pleesed, and continued as he was.
Lan laughed a bit as the boy made his comment about telling him that he had told him about the less expensive-ness of the food compared to the others. In a way, Lan was kinda relieved. He hadn't seen the price of what he was ordering, and by the way this place looked it seemed like whatever he was getting was going to be expensive. ''Really? It seems to be quite the dish. I cant believe that this is inexpensive.''
