- - - - - - - - - - - - - I'VE SEEN ENOUGH NOW TO KNOW THAT BEAUTIFUL THINGS DON'T ALWAYS STAY THAT WAY - - - - - - - - - - - - - The cool breeze fluttered through the air, captuaring her long straight black with it, sending it flying at the ends. Pausing to lift ahnd to wipe away the strands, Ayaka's dark brown eyes took a gaze through the busy park, an automatic smile raising to her face. It was just good to be out her home, it happpned to be a rather boring Saturday morning, with her father pestering her, as per always.
It was the perfect excuse to head out to Kitanomaru park, filled with interesting buildings and muesums. Infact, she was going to check out Science museum, mainly to help out with her project for her school. It sure was a long way from her home but a bus later, she was there, walking through the huge landscape, the cherry blossom trees looking as exquisite as ever.
Taking the short walk over to the museum, she could not help but notice how beautfuil it was out. Perfect for just relaxing and perhaps forgetting the daily troubles of life. A small sigh escaped her lips as she checked her wrist watch. it was jsut after noon, still fairly early. 'It won't hurt to stop for lunch first.. she thought, running her free right hand through her hair. She seatrched for an empty space under the trees for a quick seat, her face lighting up as she fouund the perfect place.
Upon finding the soft of the green grass below, she knelt down on her knees that were just happened to be covered by the faded blue jeans she wore, whilest she was wearing a peach coloured t-shirt, along with a swirling white patterning in the middle.Ayaka did not feel the need to dress any different than her usual style, which waas extremely casual. That was one thing her father woried about, why she would not act like a girl. Truth was, she didn't really care, she had herv own style and was proud.
Laying the beige shoulder bag that sung over her houlder on the ground, she reached inside for her lunch, which just consisted of small snacks, candy and sugar coated things really. Stickining sweet dango into her mouth, she gazed around. It surely was quiet, which was perhaps a good thing. being pestered was not a good thing. She leaned against the tree now, unkneeling and crossing her legs over.
The hard trunk of the tree digged into her back as she gazed around. The colours were slightly inspring, if she had any paper or paints with her, this would make a very iinspirational nature piece. Closing up her bag, she stretched out her hands onto the ground, digging inot the grass.
She felt like a lazy day today as she closed her dark eyes, letting her thoughts over take her. learning wasn't on her top priority list at this momment, she could not be botheered to use her mind. It was all too much work. She had enough of that when she was in school so why get extra work? She truly did not understand homework, it was just a waste of time. It was not like she could not do it, it was just, she felt too lazy. That was one bit flaw that she had, her lack of motivation. Unforunatly, it got in her big trouble for example getting assigments handed in on time. Luckily for her she didn't care much. With her eyes still closed, she let the cool; breeze waft by her, aware but just relaxing, so she told herself.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the same way as always i understand your uneasiness i'll search for something different- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Spring was, in so many ways, a great season. Warm weather with sunshine, more activities going on through out the city, and that satisfying feeling of finally getting rid of booting 'spring fever' after all the long winter. But then again, spring was also a stressful time for students like himself. Ko not only had to worry about his school work doubling in the current season but also those nasty allergies that ranged in severity each year. Now that the snow had melted and pollen was floating through the air, his poor blue-lavender eyes were always irritated. All through the twenty four hours in a day he felt compelled to rub his eyes to get rid of the dry feeling. Constantly taking on and off his reading glasses during class and excusing himself to go to the bathroom; it was just a hassle to sooth the not-quite-pain. Prescription eye drops never worked. Though really, Ko shouldn't complain about it this year -- it wasn't even close to the last spring season, where his eyes were fire-engine red 'round the clock. Eh, still.
Despite his battle with Mother Nature's most prominent season, the eighteen year old couldn't bring himself to stay inside and out of harm's way. When he woke up this morning feeling decent, and was pleasantly surprised to find that he had no morning or early afternoon classes to attend. With his early-bird ways, that meant plenty of free time for Mr. Matsushita. He knew immediately that he wanted to go out; where was the only question. While pondering over a small breakfast of cereal, of course his mind had wandered to going home to visit his family. If only his sisters hadn't bragged about the "study" sleepover they had hosted the night before. At this point in time, he wasn't sure if it would be worth it to spend time over there -- not if it meant running into god knew how many pre-teen girls running around the house. Yeah, it was better to venture elsewhere, he decided. But with that in mind, Ko made sure to text the older of his two little sisters, Aiko, with the message: "You better have stayed / still stay out of my room".
There was a list of possibilities in a variety of places, in various districts that sparked the young man's interest. One was Yoyogi park in the Harajuku district, which would be more of a relaxing stroll than anything else. But then again, Kitanomaru park in Chiyoda could prove to be productive if he really wanted to go to a museum. The science museum had always been one of his favourite places and -- oh! Wasn't there supposed to be a new exhibit coming soon? Or was it there already? Or maybe he just had it totally confused with something else, but he could've sworn there was going to be something new with Kinetic energy or something similar. Curious. After finishing that tiny breakfast of his, (no wonder he was so scrawny) Ko made up his mind: today would be the day to visit Kitanomaru. Even if there was nothing new in the big building the surrounding park could provide plenty of entertainment for the morning hours.
After getting dressed in pair of dark wash jeans, white button-up shirt, and throwing on a blue jacket over it, Ko was off. It was a bit of a bus ride but he had his messenger bag and hand held PSP to keep him occupied until his stop. Exiting the metal machine about twenty minutes later, the college freshman was greeted with sunshine on his pale skin and a light but fresh breeze ruffling his hair. A compulsive sniffle followed, but he tried not to let that bother him.
His pace was leisurely as he walked the miscellaneous paths that would bring him to where he wanted to go. It was probably approaching lunch time by the time the Museum was in sight. But there was something else that slid into the corner of his view, something familiar enough for as he walked past it, Ko slowed to a stop and backed up a few steps. Ah, no wonder! An easy smile slid into place. There, sitting out in the open with her eyes closed and looking like the epitome of peacefulness, was Ms. Enari Ayaka or who he had affectionately called "Aka-chan" since childhood. The two had practically grown up together and ever since Ko had gone off and graduated from high school, he hadn't seen much of her lately.
That smile stretched into a grin with just a hint of mischievous intentions. Ko crept over as quietly as he could and crouched next to Ayaka, leaned forward on his toes ever so slightly and whispered, "Boo," into her ear with hopes of catching her off guard.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - I'VE SEEN ENOUGH NOW TO KNOW THAT BEAUTIFUL THINGS DON'T ALWAYS STAY THAT WAY - - - - - - - - - - - - - It was rather relaxing, sitting underneath the shade of the cherry blossom tree. The soft scent hung in the air, opening up her senses. It was such a lovely place to be on this day of spring. Her sneakers dug into the legs as they continued to stay in that said position of being crossed.
Her long hair swayed gently as the leaves and flowers on the tree began to move, not that she was paying much attention. Ayaka was too busy getting lost in her swirling thoughts, nothing out of the ordinary. it happened to her on a daily basis, where she would just lose herself, thinking of anything and everything. Dreaming was a pastime of hers. She tried in the past to stay more focused, especially in class, but that didn't seem to be working.
It was a habit she could not release, not the girl minded. it was a fun way to feel at peace and forget your troubles of daily life. Sometimes, life just never ceased to annoy her. Schoolwork, her father, all irritating pressure she did not need. Going with the flow was always her motto, even if it was slightly hard at times. In the near distance, Ayaka could just make out the sounds of birds chirping whilst the rest of the background noise was filled with chattering of the people gathered in the park.
Despite the noise, she could feel herself almost slip off into a pool of darkness when something startled her. The black haired female automatically jumped up in surprise as the vibration in her ear whispered her name. She was about to hit the intruder till her eyes met his face.
Taking a rapid gasp of her, it took her a few seconds to recover. Her face softened as she glanced at the slim male infront of her. "Ko!"she practically shouted, throwing her arms around his boney frame. She was rather pleased to see on her closest friends, especially since it had been a while since they properly hung out together. He was in college now, busy as ever. She had missed him of recently, there wasn't anyone else really to talk to or understood her as Ko did.
They had been friends since they were young and shared some fun memories. "It's been too long since we've hung out!" she grinned, still hugging. Finally, she released her grip, her lips down turning into a frown. " And by the way. Don't ever do that again! You almost gave me a heart attack!" the teenager over exaggerated as she lightly punched his arm teasingly.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the same way as always i understand your uneasiness i'll search for something different- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - He could really tell why she was so relaxed. It was sort of like something out of a story; the soft wind rustling the tree branches, the sun shining down on the city, and a park with plenty of people but too absorbed in their own business to care that you're half asleep in the open. In a sense Ko was carefree, but he doubted he could ever be that carefree. His carefree consisted of going out and having a good time with his friends -- not sitting by himself. Still, it provided the perfect opening for him to sneak up on his lightly slumbering friend. As mentioned, it had been some time since they last saw one another, what with him being off to school.
The moment he had whispered his surprise he knew to lean back and out of the way of any possible throw of punches. It wasn't the nicest thing Ko'd ever done for Ayaka, but naturally their friendship was a playful sort. After knowing someone for almost all their lives it was hard not to play little tricks on one another. Ko was plenty satisfied when he saw his friend's frame jump significantly, oddly so, and he couldn't help but laugh. He kept his eyes on her face, waiting for her to open those dark orbs of hers and find who it was, who had just so happened to come to the park when she had.
When their eyes met, Ko's grin widened just a tad. Admittedly, he wasn't the most prepared for what happened next. His name was shouted in his face and in a flash arms were wrapped around him. The hug set him off balance, (which he would note later not to sit like he was if he was going to startle someone) and he through a hand back to catch himself, preventing himself from falling backwards. Still, he laughed again and used his free hand to return the embrace. "Nice to see you, too, Aka-chan." He commented lightly.
Clearly neither of them had expected this, but also it was clearly nice for the both of them too. Much like her own grin, the smile on Ko's face hadn't left yet. "My thoughts exactly! How are you? And your dad?" The small blurb of questions just sort of popped out. He couldn't remember the last time the had spoken, let alone hang out as she said. Eventually Ko was released and he retracted his hand as well. He decided to make himself a bit more comfortable and criss-crossed his legs so he could sit. The young man's own smile slipped momentarily -- just for seconds -- when Ayaka looked extremely displeased with him. But the light smirk slipped back into place. "Ow, don't be so abusive, Aka-chan." he replied, rubbing where she had smacked with clear embellishment. "I was just having a little bit of fun. You have to admit, you left the best opening. How could I not take advantage of it?" Ko reached over and ruffled her hair just a bit in return for the baited punch.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - I'VE SEEN ENOUGH NOW TO KNOW THAT BEAUTIFUL THINGS DON'T ALWAYS STAY THAT WAY - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ayaka managed to put a smile, despite being slightly annoyed by the surprise attack. She hadn’t really liked to be startled like that, although, she could maybe give an exception to one of her closest friends. She curled her legs from their current position and stretched them outwards, the nagging cramp setting in. The air was calm and peaceful with only a slight cool breeze brushing past her hair, sending it to flutter out in opposite directions. A slight hand brushed away the stray strands as her brown eyes fell upon her friend.
Words could not describe how happy she was to see him again, especially on a day like this; a boring one. Sure, relaxing on her own was alright but without someone to talk to, it could get lonely. But she couldn’t be delighted as Ko was here, the first person she would choose to talk to on days such as these. Her other friends weren’t of really, she couldn’t really trust them, but she knew she could in Ko, someone she knew for years and trusted in fully.
”I’m good , he’s fine” the teen nodded, her feet sprawled on onto the grass. ”Although I’d wish he would stop trying to get to stay in on Saturday nights and bake with him” she added disgust to that sentence, shaking her head. Surely that was wrong, spending time with your father on a night when you should be partying, not that she did any of that. It was just, she liked her own space as he was far too clingy. It had alot to do with the fact that her mother left them a few years, and not wanting his daughter to feel any less love, he attempted to make for it, being both mother and father. In her eyes, it was not working. ”He’s far too clingy” she muttered, now twirling a strand of her hair round her finger.
She chuckled lightly as he flinched at her small attack, her lips creasing into that sudden smirk.”I am not abusive, most of the time she smirked, raining down another quick punch on his arm as she could not resist teasing him today. ”I guess you’re right, I’ll just have to be more on guard the next time” Ayaka added in, her tone changing slightly. Afterall, she loved to tease her friend as well. ”I will get you back though! Just wait!” she menaced, messing up his hair as soon as he ruffled her own, her eyes attempting to give a death stare at her sweet friend, which was practically impossible as she retorted into a quick giggle. Staying straight faced was never her strong point.
”So, how’s college so far? Boring, I presume?” she asked curiously, twirling her hair again, it was far too hard to stay still for more than five seconds. She couldn’t believe her friend was already in college, it seemed just like yesterday when they were playing together at her house, even crazier than now. ”I’ve missed you so much at school and everywhere else. It's soooo boring without you! she pouted, her brown eyes cheerless, acting serious for once, as it was very true.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the same way as always i understand your uneasiness i'll search for something different- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - People who had known Ko for a while knew that he was a laid back sort of person, but also had those moments where he was downright silly. Then he was polite and respectful, hardworking and very mature. His sisters, and even his older brother, teased him often enough about being "half old man, half five-year-old" that he came to believe it himself. The best of both worlds, he told his family and friends, who usually rolled their eyes and laughed. But it seriously was the best of both. With such a good head on his shoulders, he knew how to differentiate between play and work and vice versa. Sometimes it helped in other situations, too. For some reason he had always been a sort of negotiator when arguments broke out, (mostly because at a neutral position for every outburst he was the only one to keep his cool) and always a great shoulder to cry on, (again, because tears didn't freak him out or anything. That and he listened if someone spoke, but didn't pry for answers). However, in spite of all of this, Ko wasn't perfect. Not in any way, shape, or form. He could get angry, or upset, or feel so depressed that he wouldn't come out of his room for days. He was no super-man. Just an average human who tried his best to keep everyone -- including himself -- happy.
Being that they've been together for so long, Ayaka probably knew this very well. It was like an additional ray of sun light had warmed his heart, coming across her like this, and it made his mood that much more cheerful. It beat out going to the Museum, that's for sure. Yeah he was a science major, but still. Friends were more important school sometimes. Hence Ko had made himself a bit more comfortable, sitting down. Pulling his messenger bag over his head, the almost-nineteen-year-old couldn't quite suppress a rather unattractive snort and a roll of the eyes. He understood very well what Ayaka thought of her father most of the time and he didn't blame her. Thankfully Ko's large family didn't have to resort to anything like divorces or much fighting in general. Sure, his mother and father had their spats, but what married couple didn't?
"Still trying to keep you of the big bad world or something, is he?" He did hold sympathy for his younger companion, yes, but there was still a touch of amusement in his voice. "I'm surprised to find you here, actually. It's quite the ways away from home. Does he know where you are?" Ko was genuinely curious with this. It wasn't that he thought she was going to just run off and leave the poor man to pull his hair out with worry but if it where him with the clingy father, he probably would've felt the need to get out of the house and not think to let anyone know where he was off to.
The second time he was hit, Ko made the point to stick out his upper lip and pout. "That's crap. Look at you! Beating up on someone who didn't do anything wrong -- well, not anything but still!" A grimace flickered across his features before he continued on with the conversation, this time that hint of mischief shining in his light coloured eyes. "Oh? Is that a challenge, Enari-san? Because if it is, you know I'll gladly take it." That was one of his quirks, you know. Ko was a game fanatic and even when it didn't pertain to hacking zombies apart on a T.V. screen, he could get insantly competitive. In a flash that sheen was gone and he was throwing his hands up to defend his head. Not finding a voice to scold, Ko merely laughed with her.
The college-bonded student flashed Ayaka a grin at her school comment, mostly because she was partly right and partly wrong. "It's school, you know. Boring is a good definition for most of it, but I absolutely love my Programming course. I've learned so much just in this first year." He kept in mind that she probably wouldn't get half of what he was saying, what with him being a technology nerd and all, then moved onto the next subject. "And I would assume that 'soooo boring' means nothing exciting has happened while I've been gone? No stink bombs? Or screwing with the pep rallies? No significant popular-girl cat fights?" He waved his hand nonchalantly. "You're right. How boring. You should hurry up and graduate already, so you can come hang with me again."

"Why yes I think he is. It's like he thinks I'm going to go out on the street as a street walker or something" she lightly, and albeit randomly, mused out loud, hugging her knees to chest, in a sort of comfort like pose. She did love her dad, ofcourse she did. but she could do with hjer own space sometimes. She felt like she was responsible enough and relatively a good girl. Ayaka wasn't the type of girl to get in trouble so why did he keep on worrying?
The young teenager couldn't help but ponder on that thought but she did understand that he jsut wanted to know that she was safe, as unnecessary as it sounded. Her brown eyes tilted up to his face, her smile still apparent. "Well I had to tell him I was going to the science muesum with a friend, although we all know science isn't my thing she laughed, knowng he was the opposite.
He probably was alot smarter than she was, as he was older and hardworking unlike herself, who saw anything that involved work a hassle. She continued to chuckle as he recovered from her rain of attack. "You should know better not to sneak up a girl when she's trying to relax" she had spoken, still not letting that go.
She stood up now, and let her feet stand firm in the grass, posing in a defence pose. "Show me what you got college boy she teased, pulling him up by the arm, laughing still as she promptly pushed him to the ground, herself folding to the ground as well, in a fit of giggles.
Once around her friends, Ayaka wasn't her usual shy self. She would open up and often become very over energetic and perhaps annoying, although she knew that they secretly enjoyed her weirdness. Her laughing fit soon subsided as he talked about school, again. She stifled an imitation yawn "You’re such a geek, you’re like the smartest guy I know, which is boring" she smirked, playing with a blade of grass.
She shook her head quickly, her smile still there. "yeah but it's not the same" she smiled, her eyes sincere. She frowned, thinking of her bad concentration and grades. how on earth was she ever going to finish highschool, she wasn't entirely sure. "That's what I'm working! If I can be bothered to concentrate in any of my classes" the teen yawned, leaning against the tree again.
"I wonder if I'll ever graduate at this rate. i really need to though, I'm really desperate to start my career in journalism" Ayaka pronounced, not sure herself if she could pull of this milestone. "Oh how I wish i was as smart as you" she declared, hugging her friend.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the same way as always i understand your uneasiness i'll search for something different- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A heavy, dramatic sigh pushed through his lips followed by a rather careless shrug. Aka's father was worrisome, yes, but he chalked it up one to the other end of the spectrum: ignoring his daughter completely. Still, a choke-hold of a grip was probably just as unsettling to the high schooler as the opposite was. "He should know better." That was all Ko said, but he had a few other things in his mind that hadn't popped out. All the better really; he wasn't sure exactly how to put the thoughts into words. It was like, her dad should most certainly back off but she should, too, be relieved that he cared so much. Not all parents were so considerate to their kids after a divorce, nasty or not. Again, not that he knew from experience or anything, but he had seen some friends loose a bit of potential because of their father and mother's brake up.
Nudging his messenger bag out of the way, Ko shuffled his way over to sit besides Ayaka, so he could also lean his back against the rough bark of the tree. When his friend spoke again, he turned his attention back to her and returned the grin. Sort of ironic, wasn't it? "And now you're not lying, seeing as how I'm here!" His tone had a slight sing-song edge to it. "I'm not all that astonished to find you here, though, instead of at the museum itself. I have a hard time picturing you of all people not wanting to jump out the window at the sight of all those formulas and scientifical crap." This time the teen gestured to their little patch of grass and such, indicating the "here" part. And then, of course, he didn't mean "crap", seeing as how he was a scientist at heart, (or so he liked to believe). But he would admit that it isn't always the most enjoyable subject.
Moving onto another topic, namely their playful bickering about sneaking and whatnot. Ko laughed, making sure to make it slightly mocking. "'Let resting girls rest', eh? I would usually agree to that, but I think I'll keep that exception just for you." Casually the blue-eyed boy slung an arm around his younger companion's shoulder, laughed once more, then retracted said arm. But before he could pull it away fully, it was grabbed. Ayaka pulled him to his feet hastily. Just as quickly, and with without any of the notice, Ko was sent sprawling towards the ground. Thankfully his reflexes acted quick enough; not a thought passed before he threw his hands out so he wouldn't fall on his back in an undignified manner. Ayaka followed him to the ground and sat once more, giggling. Putting his best efforts into grimacing, Ko sat up too and put on his best imitation of a wounded kitten -- which was very convincing, mind you, (it was a strange talent of his, that was. He was known for his successful male puppy-face). "There you go with the abuse again!"
Soon after, he couldn't find the strength to keep from cracking another smile. The college freshmen sunk against the tree once more, listening to what his company was talking about. Again he waved his hand as if it didn't matter. "Since when have I not been a geek? Get with the program, Aka-chan." He listened again, but this time a frown martyred Ko's expression. Carefully he turned to his side so that he could face Ayaka more clearly and gave her a curious head tilt. "Concentration can be difficult sometimes, but you know its important to start that Journalism of yours. I'm sure you don't need me lecturing you about keeping your grades up and stuff, but seriously Aka-chan, try to think more optimistically about things. Besides, if you ever need help, you can just give me a call. We can set up a study session or something." A the thought, the corners of his lips twitched upwards briefly. Now that would certainly be interesting.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - I'VE SEEN ENOUGH NOW TO KNOW THAT BEAUTIFUL THINGS DON'T ALWAYS STAY THAT WAY - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ayaka nodded at her friend, quoting what she had thought. Her father really couldn’t change his overprotective ways, no matter how unnecessary it was. She just tried to ignore it, knowing he was, afterall, just looking out for her. Ayaka really adored her father , although admitting it was never likely.
Brushing back her hair from her face as it flew into her face, blinding her tunnel of vision. Her legs unfolded themselves, stretched out, getting rid of the aching cramp building up. It wasn’t usually a good idea to sit like that for long, as cramp was a total pain. The air was cold but refreshing as it swept past the park, theseweet aroma of the flowers still hung in the air. ”Haha yup! she chimed, her tonme cheerfully and carefree, as it was when she was with her best friend. She missed this, so much. Her other friends weren’t as nearly as fun or understanding as her older friend. Knowing him since she was young, she grew comfortable around him, it was hard when their time together started to wane
Hopefully, that wouldn’t last long, maybe once she started college, things might get less hectic. ”Yeah, that would certainly happen. I would die of boredom” the teenager exaggerated leaning her head back and spread out her arms on the cool grass. Playing dead was fun, she could eb an actress. Okay, maybe not, but being overdramatic was her thing. She giggled as he fell to the ground, putting on his best puppy dog face act. ”Haha so I was right! You ARE weak!” she waggled her finger in front of his face. ”You just got beat up by a girl!”she exclaimed again, laughing.
”Ko-kun, you are so mean you get what you deserve!” the black haired girl taunted, her ever present waggling finger still in his face. Playing along with him was doubly more fun, brought her back to when they were kids. Despite being younger, she would still endlessly tease him and fortunately that had not changed one bit. ”Hmm that’s true. Even when we were kids, you were still this boring” the girl smirked playfully, her face turned to his.
”Bah, I’m pessimistic. I can’t concentrate on anything! I’m just terrible. I’m going to flunk out of school and live in a cardboard box!” the girl’s face lit up in horror, her eyes widening. ”OH YES!” the girl clapped her hands excitedly together ”Your so smart you probably know all this science crap!!” she squealed, her pitch high. She couldn’t imagine him trying to help her, she’d just annoy him to no end. But it was a fun idea and could just work. ”Wow, your nerdiness does prove useful sometimes! she chuckled as she gripped him tight into a bear like hug ”My science exam is going up soon, maybe you could help me study for that, soon?” she questioned, releasing her tightened grip on him.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the same way as always i understand your uneasiness i'll search for something different- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - All this talk of fathers lead Ko to think of family. More specifically, his. Living off campus as he was, it should've been easier for him to go visit them more often. Still, it seemed like the how-ever long bus ride always got pushed behind going to do this or going to see this, or even just going to dinner with friends. Really, he understood why his older brother, Nii-chan, couldn't come back to visit. He was studying in the states and all. But Ko? He was just a district or two away. It was frustrating sometimes, but other times it felt good to have his freedom. He couldn't remember the last time he had to ask permission to go somewhere.
But because of all that independence, seeing his parents for the first time in weeks was a little...strange. Coming back to the conversation after that thought, Ko surprised the urge to sigh heavily. Instead, he replied, "Pft. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe it's a good thing you're not out of the house yet. He'd probably be just as bad -- or worse! -- than my mom." Ready for his acting portion of the day, the teen adopted a mocking voice that was supposed to resemble a female, namely his mum. " 'Ko, dear! Welcome home! Look at you. Have you been eating well? I don't think so. Here, let me make you lunch. Wait. Young man, you haven't been keeping up with your laundry, have you? That shirt is all wrinkled!' " Keeping up the charade for a moment more, he pretended to pat out the wrinkles in the invisible mirror image of himself, a scowl matching his material parent pretty well, then settled back against the tree once more.
Laughing lightly at Ayaka's own portrayal of death, Ko paired it with a roll of the eyes. "Yeah, that's what I would've guessed. Maybe with a bit more feeling, though." He tapped his chin while speaking, giving him the apparent look of consideration. Then was their whole little pushing session, resulting in both of them on the ground again. Apparently Aka-chan was immune to that puppy dog look -- she had probably seen billions of times beforehand, anyway. To make up for it, Ko pushed the hand out of his face and put his own hand over his heart, acting like he was in pain. "Ooooi. That hurts, Aka-chan. Never tell a guy that they were beat up by a girl. Tell them it wasn't nice to let the girl win."
Next he adopted a rather dumbfounded look. "Moi? 'Mean'? Clearly you're not looking at the situation rationally. All any outside viewer would see is a bully picking on her long-time friend." Of course he was just returning her teasing. Ko had missed all this -- just being able to hang out and playfully make fun of Ayaka. She never took offense, nor did he. It was just a friendly exchange of non-sincere affronts. "I'm glad your memory hasn't failed you yet, missy." Actually, he agreed with Ayaka's statement. He fully believed he was that nerdy type that didn't get a lot of girls. But hey, what could ya' do?
In spite of the seriousness of the manner, Ko couldn't help himself. He laughed once more at the mention of Aka-chan living in a box for the rest of her life. He then listened to her light up at his suggestion, which made him feel that much better about hounding her about the subject of school. When he was once again gripped in a hug, the science major grinned and returned it. "See? Being a hermit through out high school does have it's good points." He sounded a bit smug about that part as he used a hand to ruffle her hair again. "But yeah. I wouldn't mind helping you at all. The only thing I would ask," He made sure to give a good dose of seriousness in his tone, so that when she pulled away and looked up to his face she would know that he wasn't kidding about this part. "is that you try really hard. A study session wouldn't be like this, all catching up on stuff, but purely about your work. Last time I tried to tutor the girls, all they did was text their friends after every question and not really pay attention." The girls, meaning his sisters of course. "Not that I think you wouldn't take it sincerely. I thought I'd just mention it."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - I'VE SEEN ENOUGH NOW TO KNOW THAT BEAUTIFUL THINGS DON'T ALWAYS STAY THAT WAY - - - - - - - - - - - - - The seventeen chuckled at his portrayal of his mother. Parents were an unnecessary pain, no matter what she could say about hers, her father would be for there for her, whether she accepted it or not. It was fun to see her father cope with living with a teenage daughter, as it wasn't very often one would do this alone. Ayaka was used to it by now, it had been a few years since her mother left, so becoming used to it came in quick time. She had to stay strong for him, for he was fragile and heartbroken. Luckily, they coped just fine, the two of them a team.
Sure there where arguments aplenty and maybe she said she hated him at times, but thatt didn't really change much. "Haha, I can't imagine him becoming any worse than he already is. Your mom is nothing against him, trust me" the girl spoke, laying a palm lightly on his shoulder.
Folding her arms tightly across her chest after her little death scene, she pouted once more in sort of mock protest. Are you saying that I'm not a good actress?" the girl dramatically fainted once more before chuckling as in a playful manner. Sometimes, she was a little out there, though this tended to happen when she was with her closest friends, the ones whom she could trust the most.
"I can't help that I'm honest. I do not tell lies" she grinned, referring to the got beaten up by a girl comment, at which he faked pain, flashing her cheeky smile. Winding him up was far too easy today, and far too much fun than what it should be. She pouted again at the bully comment. "I'm not the bully! You are! You scared me!" she shrieked, the earlier situation from the day still not being able to let itself free from her mind. She wasn't that upset, it was fun to tease. She couldn't get enough of it, plus it was so simple and felt so natural.
her cheeky grin returned as he mentioned that. "Ofcourse. Only because I'm still young. And your old" Ayaka taunted, giggling happily. Once they moved on to the subject of studying, her face grew slightly serious.
It was true, she really needed help. Sure, goofing around was fun but it never paid the bills. She needed to get some brains, and with the help of an uber smart friend, she could just make it through her last year of highschool. Her smile creased as he ruffled her hair lightly. "Hmm perhaps she pondered then shook away that though, realizing she couldn’t do without her social life. "Yay!" she screamed at his latest comment, adding in another quick hug, thrusting her arms tight around his rather scrawny figure.
Nodding, her tone getting rid of the silliness she usually held for him. " I understand. I'll work really hard, I promise" her dark eyes widened into a puppy dog look, never letting go of his stature. Her face still pleaded as she turned back to him. "So you'll do it? she questioned, turning her head round to face his, her eyes pleading still. " If you say yes, I'll treat you to free ice-cream for a month!" the teenager bribed, the innocence in her tone changing more to desperation. She had to pass this year, she just had to.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - the same way as always i understand your uneasiness i'll search for something different- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ah parents. They could be your best friends or your worst enemies. There were phases that parentals and children often went through. It started off as they were the ones you hid behind when grandma and gramdpa came to visit, along with their cheek-pinching. Then was the, "Mom! Look what I can do!" period where you tried to venture out more, followed by the rebellious teen stage which ensured plenty of verbal fights. In the blink of an eye those came and went, and were replaced by "Mom, dad, I'm home for the break! Can I have some food?". Yes, there were times when you loved 'em, hated 'em, and periods in between. But you could never escape the fact that they were the first ones you went to, usually, when you needed someone or something. You loved them and they loved you. Its just how it went in spite of all the nagging.
Ko let out a disbelieving laugh when Ayaka told him that his mother was nothing compared to her father. "Hey now, I know he can get bad, but right now your dad couldn't be nearly as bad as my parents. Did you not just see my demonstration? College brings out the worst in 'em."
"Do I look like I want a black eye? I'll answer that: no, I don't. I'd prefer not to comment on a certain someone's atrocious acting skills." Ko retorted to her actress comment, an eyebrow arched high. Again, it was a teasing comment referring to her supposed violent tendencies. He didn't think that she was going to give him a bruised eye, nor did he really think she was going to do little more than give him a push -- clearly that was the extent her assaults.
Needing something to do with his hands, the teen began to pluck at the grass absentmindedly as they went on with their conversation. It seemed as if they were both full of it today, going back and forth with these comments. Ko gave a rather patronizing laugh. "Is that so? That in itself is a clear lie, my friend." Another flashy smile before saying, "I haven't the faintest idea what you mean by that. I merely took note of your distracted-ness and thought to bring you back to reality."
"Only because I'm still young. And your old.", Ayaka had told him. It was true. In comparison to her, at least, he was starting to feel like an old man. Obviously he wasn't anywhere near "old" but he chucked all the same. Putting his arms out in front of him, Ko laced his fingers together and stretched the muscles in his arms and hands. Pointedly, the joints in his fingers and elbows cracked loudly. "It won't be much longer until you're pushing me around in a wheel chair catering to my every need. After my sisters get sick of the job, at least."
The mood had switched so easily, from a playful air to a more solemn one. Ko knew that Ayaka knew grades were important to get into a good school. The world was a competitive place and it didn't take lightly to people who didn't take seriousness in their work. However the extremely loud "Yay!" that almost blew out his ear drums gave the college student reason to believe that despite her pessimistic talk, Aka-chan truly did know the importance of school. His grin quickly returned as he repayed her hug. There was talk of working hard, a rather convincing puppy-eye stare, a still tight embrace, and the bribe of ice cream. Ohhh, ice cream. Ayaka should've known better than to add that last bit in; Ko was a sweet addict and he could probably down at least a ton if ice cream in a month's time. The two faced each other and on his part, there was a small, evil glint in his eyes. "I was going to say 'yes' regardless, but now that you've made that offer I can't refuse. Free ice cream for a month, and you've got a deal."
