- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - perplexed in the white snow i already wish for someone's, for a certain someone's happiness- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - How had winter come up so quickly? It felt like just yesterday he was sitting in the park, letting himself absorb all the vitamin D the sun offered. As he walked now, light and fluffy snowflakes spotted his light, brown-blonde hair. Ko was wrapped up tightly in a fitted jacket, scarf, and gloves. The lack of a hat had ended up being a bad decision, but he hadn't planned to wander all the way across the city. Actually, he hadn't planned to go further than the store to stock up on instant foods. Being a college student with no job to speak of, Ko had to be stingy about where his money went and when it came to food, well, the less healthy choices were always cheaper. But then again, if he was going to eat badly, why not take the cake home? Literally, almost.
The now nineteen year old, (his birthday passing in the summer) held a plastic bag in one fabric laden hand and the other plopped one of his Meiji Meltykiss chocolate squares in his mouth. The open box was in with the noodle meals and various other little snack foods, swinging by his legs. Ko had been, and always would be a fan of sweet things and candy. It was that darn sweet-tooth he and all his siblings had inherited from their father. It was a sad fact that growing up, the four Matsushita kids hardly got to satisfy that candy craving, (well, unless you included that week once a month when Mom went on the whole "I need chocolate" deal).
Completely content with his purchases, Ko had wandered from the store in the opposite direction of his home. He was known to amble on a daily basis but how exactly he ended up in Asakusa was a blur even to the college-bound teen. He remembered the bus ride of munching and such though besides that, not much; getting off at the stop he did must've been a whim. Regardless here he was, shuffling his way through the snow paths. Even in winter Ko could sense the traditional sense of Japan which you didn't usually get from the city. There were more natural areas and buildings not packed so tightly together. There was one word that came to his mind to describe the place: refreshing.
The air just seemed...crisper here. And like he could relax more easily than if he could back home. As Ko turned onto a new street, there was a group of middle-aged women that passed by him in traditional winter kimonos. A few minutes later showed him an elementary school's field trip -- the whole lot of them seemed to be off to Senso-ji. Watching the teachers trying to keep up with the energetic group, Ko grinned to himself. This place, though having an air of the past, was still Tokyo and therefore, still busy.
Sighing lightly to himself, Ko decided to seek out a place to sit for a minute. A block later he found a stone bench thankfully, across from a tourist's souvenir shop. He made a quick note before sitting down to push the snow that had built up over night off his cold seat before seating himself. He did so, then shivered plainly at the temperature. Still, it was nice to give his soles a break. Setting his bag on the bench next to him, Ko settled in a little bit more to watch the flow of people. An English-appearing couple emerged from the souvenir shop, chatting quickly about something. With his not-so-fluent knowledge of the language, all he was able to pick up before the two walked away was, "I love it! Thanks!".
Again a brief smile flickered across his lips. The pair had been rather adorable in their heavy jackets and snow gear, but still managing to hold hands preceding their leave. Following the smile was just the opposite -- his lips curved downwards. Despite a certain classmate of his trying to set him up with various girls and signing up with the ever so popular "Forever & Ever" dating website, Ko was still utterly partner-less. Spending another holiday season alone had been depressing and the upcoming valentine's day festivities were going to be dreadful for the boy. Grimacing at the thought, Ko reached for his bag to extract another Meltykiss, but ended up knocking all the contents into the snow.
"Ah," He blinked then realized what he had done with another sigh. He couldn't help but scold himself a little. "Clumsy," Ko said, then slid from the bench and began to gather this week's meals. At least they were all packaged and wouldn't suffer any permanent damage.

*WHERE DID I GO WRONGwhat have i done? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“I hate you.”
She’d made it sound so goddamn terrible. Like, “oh woe is me, I’ve been broken up with because I’m an annoying brat but I’m going to glare at you and say I hate you even though you let me down really nice and brought me a necklace!” This, from Kazuko’s side, was essentially what had been the case. Kazuko had let the girl down in the nicest way possible, and it wasn’t like they’d been ‘together’ for ages. Kazuko had merely been sleeping with her for a couple of weeks. And for all the times they hadn’t been fucking, she had to listen to the bitch.
But Kazuko had found someone better who was a lot prettier and had long, silky blonde hair that she loved to run her fingers through. So she’d decided to break off the little, and from her view meaningless, fling. She’d brought flowers and chocolate and had even gotten her a necklace, which was a really pretty, silver necklace with two pieces of a broken heart on the chain. But apparently it wasn’t good enough for the girl’s tastes because she’d thrown it back in Kazuko’s face and started on a bitching rant. No appreciation for the efforts that Kazuko went to actually make it a little less harsh on the girl, none at all. And that really just wasn’t fair. Kazuko had told her that she didn’t want anything really serious, and the girl had understood, and she’d even happily signed the Super Confidential Contract of Top Secrecy.
Kazuko only hoped that she kept to her word, because she wasn’t really in the mood to get onto her attorney. She wasn’t really in the mood for anything but alcohol or junk food. Since it was still daytime, however, she settled for chocolate candy bars, three boxes of pocky and jelly beans. She’d already gone through most of the chocolate bars, and was working her way through the pocky. A stick of it was happily placed in her mouth and slowly being devoured.
It was a cold day, today; snowing in the truly winter fashion. She was rugged up in a clean, tailored coat, a white scarf, and stockings with lace up boots. Her hands were freezing, though. She had taken off the gloves at her place, and had forgotten to put them back on after making her rather hasty retreat when objects were being thrown at her. She was kind of glad that she’d eventually found herself in Asakusa, if purely for the fact that it was quiet like most other days. She wouldn’t have been able to handle a big crowd. And she was more than fairly certain that she was being hunted down right now in all of the other usual places. She was surely safe here, at least, even if she had to bum around for a while until she eventually phoned her butler to come and pick her up.
She was supposed to be home early today, she recalled. She had had to help out the helping the staff with finalizing the choices on her parent’s anniversary celebration. But why bother? They would end up hating the celebration, anyway, because it was just a reminder that they had married each either. Kazuko had learned, a long time ago, from her mother on one of the rare occasions she was drunk, that her parents once absolutely despised each other, and still do. They had only married because it was what their families approved of and demanded of them. Kazuko would have thought that being pushed into something like that by their own parents would have maybe given them incentive to not try and do the same thing to their own daughter. However, they’d apparently missed that lesson entirely, as they were constantly throwing eligible bachelors with good ‘portfolios’ at her.
Kazuko sighed forlornly. She liked girls. They were soft, feminine, delicate, and pretty. But they could be so god damn difficult sometimes. She got to the point at times where she wondered if she really would just end up marrying one of her parent’s choices, living for her work, with all the money she could need, a kid that she barely even knew, and a husband that you absolutely despised. Like her mother, except Kazuko didn’t really think that she was a lesbian. That would have just been too awkward to even consider. Everyone was always making comparisons between herself and her mother; of their hair, the grades, the attitude, eyes, lips, nose, and even to a lesser extent, their style. She didn’t like to think that they were exactly the same. She liked to think that her parents didn’t mean anything to her, and they all were only family by blood. Her mother and father were usually on separate parts of the globe. And Kazuko only saw either of them twice a month if she was so unlucky, never usually together, not even on the important holidays. But she had her butler, her maids and her toys, so she didn’t really care.
“Ah – miss!” Someone grabbed her arm, and pulled her quite heavily against them. It was a man, a tall man, with brown hair and chocolate eyes. He was grinning stupidly. “You nearly walked right through that puddle,” he explained, and sure she was, because Kazuko wasn’t afraid of a little water, even in the costly shoes she was wearing. But why the hell did he, a complete stranger, care? She studied him with an uninterested stare, noting how he was still holding on to her arm. They were close. He was still grinning stupidly. And for a second, Kazuko thought he might have been attempting to give off a charming appeal. She nearly laughed, nearly. She of course didn’t feel a thing, other than a touch of amusement at the whole situation, unlike most other girls, and that must have been recognized by the man. Man’s radar for lesbians really needed to be worked on some more.
“Thanks,” she said as she took her arm back. “That puddle could have been mighty deep, you know. Lord only knows what real dangers lurk beneath its sodden surface.” The stupid grin quickly dispersed, and before she could count to three, he nodded his head and awkwardly skedaddled off and away, leaving Kazuko with too much candy and nowhere to go. She turned around, having forgotten herself and her surroundings during her walk. There was a field trip, over at one of the shops further down, and a couple walking by. And there, across the road, all on his lonesome, was dear little Matsushita Ko.
She grinned devilishly and crossed the road to find her way over to him. He was collecting something off of the ground that must have dropped off the table. Knowing him, it was probably food for the week. She really should invite him around for dinner more. Chucking her bags on the table, Kazuko knelt down to help him collect his stuff.
“You’re such a klutz, Ko.”

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - perplexed in the white snow i already wish for someone's, for a certain someone's happiness- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Though he had asked himself such a silly question, Ko knew that it wasn't just spring that had passed by quickly but just a short period in his life. Nearly twenty now, he should've known that nothing lasted forever. Then again if everything always stayed the same nothing exciting would ever happen now, would it? People tended to cling to their comfort zones and keep to their normal lives. Change was a difficult thing for many, including himself. Going off into the big bad world on his own had actually been a terrifying experience; for the first week at least. That had probably been Ko's first big wake up call. Having a dose of something different could be unnerving, yes, but it also opened up an absurd amount of doors to choose from further down the line. And yet there were things that never seemed to change. His lack of a girlfriend for one. Or boyfriend, for that matter. It had only been in the last year or so that Ko realized he had a small attraction to men and after a tedious inner battle, he wasn't sure where to classify himself anymore. Persons of the female sort still tended to catch his light eyes more often but there was always that small number of guys he would pay a little bit more attention to than a heterosexual would. The teen had yet to fully recognize that small part although whenever he was off on his own and feeling just the tiniest tad lonely, his thoughts always seemed to wander into those spotty subjects.
It had been a long while since Ko had last been on an actual date. The last one was shaky in his memory but if he was recalling correctly, it had ended rather awkwardly. He had been raised as a gentleman sort and someone who always put a woman before himself. As cliche as that sounded, chivalry was something he prided himself in. But this girl had been very free spirited and very pro-feminist. When he told her he was going to take her out to dinner she replied, "I prefer fast food. Those stuffy restaurants are never any fun." Per request they had gone to one of those greasy, big-name chain places. Not the greatest place to be a romantic, Ko would come to find. The young lady went on to refuse the chair he began to pull out for her, ranted about an anti-sexist group she was apart of, and described the rather scary sport of Rugby -- something she participated in every weekend. Ko had remained as intent on their conversations as he could but the girl had left little openings for him to talk. He'd driven her home and she told him "I'll call you" before closing the door on him. So there he had been, left on some strange chick's doorstep, when it began to rain. Really? Really. There had been an urge to smack himself across the face to see if the whole date were some stupid dream his over-worked brain concocted. But no, he went home and tried to forget about it until the next day, when he laughed about it with his friends.
It was sad that that had been his last dating experience to the current day. Don't even ask about the last time he had gotten any "action"; it was too far back in his memory to recall. It had been more than likely with his ex-girlfriend, a British foreigner who had originally come to school in Tokyo for a semester but ended up staying all of their Freshman year. There had been talk of transferring permanently until she visited home and "fell in love with" and old fling. That left Ko once again, by his lonesome.
Most of the time that didn't bother him. Like today he just spent his time occupying himself with other things. But there could only be so many distracting things at one time. The English couple that had past reminded him of this and then came the whole seeking-solace-from-the-chocolate, followed by the mess making. After crouching to gather his things he didn't notice the pair of dark eyes that watched him from down the street, nor did he pay much attention to the crunch of snow that should've alerted him to a second presence. But suddenly there was an extra pair of hands giving him those packaged goods.
“You’re such a klutz, Ko.”
Ah, he knew that voice. In fact he knew it pretty well. Pulling his head up Ko found himself face to face with none other than Minami Kazuko, a rather interesting young lady Ko had recently befriended. After meeting through a mutual friend the two of them had begun to see one another pretty much everywhere and, well, a friendship bloomed from the acquaintance-ness. While their personalities were on different levels, (truth be told Ko admired her for her charisma) the pair got along quite nicely and had a casual, friendly sort of relationship. There was a gap in social class, though, and it wasn't every day that he got to see his wealthy lady. When the realization dawned on Ko's face, it was followed up with slight confusion and pleasant surprise. A smile spread across his thin lips.
"Oh, its good to see you, too, Kazuko. Me? I'm doing fine, thank you for asking." His voice held a hint of suppressed laughter as he gathered the last of his spilled contents, shoving them into the plastic bag along with the the items Kazuko had given back. "Thanks," he added on quickly. Once his weekly meals were put to the side Ko stood from the snowy ground and offered a hand to help her up. "Now that we've recognized my un-coordination, what, may I ask, are you doing here?"
